Production
This is how we make Martus knitwear

Design

Everything starts with an idea. It goes from being a simple sketch drafted on paper, to a carefully elaborated design with the technical data necessary to begin production.

Knitting

The yarn is transformed into panels of fabric which are then refined before being assessed by the first quality check.

Linking

The fabric panels are sewn together using a single thread, following a traditional procedure called chain stitching. Once finished, the garment is further refined by expert hands.

Washing

In order to achieve best results, it is important to choose the correct washing method for type and width of the fibre.

Fulling

When spinning carded yarns, an additional passage is required which is called fulling. Through this process, the fibre obtains a smooth surface and a pleasantly matted appearance.

Quality control

By this stage, each item is further tested by our Quality Control team. Only products achieving the 100% approval rate will proceed to the packing area.

Packaging

Once the garment is finished and approved by our Quality Assurance experts, our label is attached individually to each piece by hand. A careful ironing procedure follows, of light and precise vaporising and a finishing touch of traditional iron pressing. The refined product is then delicately packed by expert hands for dispatch.

Every single stage of production, from working the raw material to packing the finished product, occurs in our Italian production centres. Italian cashmere knitwear is world famous for its superior properties. Our quality journey starts from the careful selection of the best yarns available, which only an expert can do. Then, skilful hands proceed with the fulling process, which is absolutely necessary for creating that characteristic smooth texture and ultra-softness we all love. Finally, our rigorous and numerous quality checks ensure that only the best of the best lands in the stores and our patrons’ homes.
