How Martus knitwear is created

It takes many hands to produce a single jumper. The creation of one piece from the Martus apparel collection involves several experts across all departments: from selecting materials and designs to weaving and inspecting the product. The final result of this process is a jumper that carries our people’s vision, passion and ethos in every thread.

Production steps

Design

The creative journey begins when the first outline of the jumper is drafted on paper. Then follows a period of attentive study, in which the technical data is processed. Finally, everything comes together in the sewing room, where our dedicated professionals will work tirelessly until the piece is finished and flawless. Let’s begin!

Knitting

In this phase, our textile masters will turn simple threads into shaped panels of fabrics. These are going to constitute the different sections of the jumper: front, back and sleeves, as well as neck and cuffs. Each panel will undergo a meticulous assessment process by our experts, in order to trace any imperfection before sending it to the next department.

Linking

The fabric panels are assembled two at a time. Then, our knowledgeable knitters will carefully work each loop of the single thread into the machine’s needle in order to create a chain-stitched line. The result is effortless and discreet. The second phase of the linking process requires even more precision, as it involves the refining of each individual item by hand.

Washing

In order to achieve the best results, it is important to choose the correct washing method for the type and width of the fibre. Therefore, each jumper will be washed following a dedicated procedure that is specific to each type.

Fulling

When spinning carded yarns, an additional step is required which is called fulling. Through this process, the fibre obtains a smooth surface and the pleasantly matted appearance that we all love. In fact, without fulling the strands, the process is incomplete. To achieve the desired levels of comfort it is necessary to work the yarn until it reaches the ideal degree of softness. It is a complex procedure which our experts know how to carry out to perfection. The finished product will be spectacularly comfortable.

Quality Control

Each item undergoes a thorough inspection carried out by our experts. Any imperfection is promptly removed and the product is further refined. We only sell products that have been deemed as perfect.

Labelling

Our labels are individually hand-sewn onto each piece that has passed the quality controls. This step further guarantees impeccable production standards.

Ironing

Our label is our stamp of approval: only a labelled jumper can be considered finished. Now, it is time for it to be carefully vaporised, followed by gentle ironing at the lowest temperatures.

Packing

What started as a simple draft on paper has been turned into a magnificent piece of couture, made from the noblest of fibres. It is now ready to be delicately packed to preserve its softness. The lucky buyer of this jumper will instantly fall in love with the fluffy texture. Soft, warm, elegant and comfortable: this is how Martus apparel wins you over!
