Get your cashmere ready for storage

Before stowing your cashmere away, wash it carefully, either by hand or washing machine. No need to improvise here. While a good wash freshens up the fibres and restores them back to their original softness and cohesion, a bad job would mean ruining them. For this reason, we have put together the Martus guide for washing cashmere In the article you will find advice on how to wash, dry and iron your clothes. Should you notice the formation of pilling during this process, please read the Martus guide for reducing and preventing pilling. In order to ensure the best levels of care, make sure you have enough fitted garment bags (plastic or fabric) for the number of cashmere garments you own, as well as tissue paper, and that they are cleaned properly. Additionally, you will need a moth repellent. It should be of good quality and have an unobtrusive and delicate fragrance.

Store your clothes

Once your garment has been thoroughly washed, fully dried and ironed out, delicately fold it and insert a sheet of tissue paper on the inside. Place each item into the garment bags together with one sachet of moth repellent. You can now keep your items in the closet or drawer, or any other storage space that will maintain cool and dry temperatures at all times. Please remember that moth repellent sachets usually last for a season and need to be replaced after a period of three months. Be sure to read the advice in our dedicated pages in order to retain the fabulous qualities of your Martus cashmere for longer.
